  • My story:  I am from Kasese district. I got to know Christ while in high school and started my salvation journey then.

My passion:   “to learn and grow.”  This year’s practicum is a perfect opportunity for me.

My story: When my father died in 2001, I joined Watoto child care ministries which changed my story due to the heart wrenching experiences I had gone through to the age of 7 years. Joining campus was a miracle and dream come true.

My goal: training with eMi this summer for capacity building, interacting with new friends and growing more spiritually.

My dream: With the Godly virtues and principles that eMi is based on, I believe I will leave a holistic professional to start up a survey company and offer engineering services with integrity.

My goal:  to share the skills I’ll acquire with others

My dream:  I believe I’ll be better professionally equipped. I also hope to become a better person spiritually so as to share God’s love with others. Indeed I feel blessed to have this opportunity.

My story:  from western region (Kamwenge) but currently living in central region,Kampala (Ggaba) with both parents – born in an Anglican family of seven –  2nd born,  now a born-again Christian.

My goal:  with this great opportunity to train, I am ready to exploit my ability for the betterment of both eMI and my future in the profession of Surveying and, to grow spiritually and extend the services of charity which I started far back in my High school.

My dream:  God willing, I wish to be the District surveyor of my home district and extend my study in GIS.

CissyNakato Cissy

3rd year from  Ndejje University.

My Story:  from the Eastern region (Jinja).  I come from a Christian family of eight children and am the eighth, living with both parents.

My goal:  to acquire skills and knowledge from this training. Since eMi also offers spiritual guidance I believe I am going to grow spiritually and I thank God for this great opportunity given to me by eMi to be part of this year’s training.

My dream:   to use my profession to help and reach other people in need

The Trainers


Benjamin Craig – Surveying Technician from Queensland, Australia.

My story:  graduated in 1996 from the University of Southern Queensland and worked in surveying field until 2006.   After completing a short term mission as a surveyor for remote hill tribes in North West Thailand I changed to self-employed. This gave me the opportunity to do more overseas short term missions to Thailand, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and Uganda.

My goal:   in Uganda for 6 months – until end of August to do more surveying for EMI partner ministries and to spend the 8 weeks as a volunteer trainer for the Surveying Practicum.

My dream:  The impact I see these young land survey students have on the future of Uganda is quite significant. It is my joy and privilege to be able to pass on some of my practical surveying knowledge and share my passion for the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with the future leaders of the Ugandan surveying profession.

My Story: I just completed my land survey degree from Ndejje University this May. This is the second time I am involved with eMi, the first being the Survey Practicum 2014 where I learnt more in 8 weeks than I possibly could have. Met amazing friends and mentors that I must say have really been of great motivation and influence in my life. Love you all. God bless

My goal: to assist Mr. Patrick deliver to our new 2015 students the rich program that I enjoyed and to share love and knowledge with the rest of the team.

My dream: to be part of eMi and volunteer in some works for ministries in Uganda and beyond.



Jacky Chow – Geomatics Engineer 

My story: I grew up in Calgary and enjoy travelling and eating a lot.

My goal: To exchange stories with people I meet on this trip and share my knowledge/passion in surveying with the students.

My dream: Remember that we are all interconnected. I am looking forward to volunteering with eMi and serving the Lord whom I love.

Our Story:  We’re excited to return to Uganda for our 4th summer to deliver EMI’s Survey Practicum and to continue mentoring librarians.

Our goals – To continue to find joy in sharing our lives and empowering others – with our faith, our professional abilities, and our life lessons,  and to partner with and learn from others, especially our African friends, who can teach even us seasoned folk some valuable lessons…

Our dreams – To be a part of raising up future surveyors in Uganda who will live out their faith in their profession and wider communities.  Pray with us for the sustainability and growth of this program.

Kyle and EileenKyle and Aileen Konda

Our Story:  We both began our careers in civil engineering. Kyle recently started on a journey to become a high school math teacher and Aileen continues to practice civil engineering, focusing on water resources.

Our Goals:  To use the gifts and training that God has given us to serve and support those in ministry and to do it with love.

Duane and CarolDuane – Surveyor and Carol Wetmore – Teacher and former pastoral Elder now admin for Duane’s Survey Company

Our Story:  Land Surveyor for over 42 years and married to Carol for 37 years.  We have 3 married children and 10 grandchildren, all of which are faithfully serving the Lord.

Our goals:  Continue our intense interest and involvement in missions, both locally and internationally.
