Survey Practicum, Uganda
eMi Canada and eMi East Africa, partnering with the Faculty of Engineering at Kyambogo University, Makerere University, Ndeje University and Entebbe Institute of Land Management, provide a Survey Practicum for Ugandan Geomatics Engineering students every year for the past 6 years.
This intense 8 week Practicum allows 9 selected/interviewed Ugandan students – well versed in the theory of geomatics – to build competency and confidence in the application of this theory. Students are provided with hands-on practice using a variety of survey equipment, class time learning computer software, as well as time in the field completing a topographic survey for an upcoming eMi project.
Through the training, the trainers will not only have an opportunity to enhance the technical capabilities of developing world design professionals, but also to provide guidance in standards and ethical practices, building capacity for a world of hope.
